Goodrich Memorial Library Begins an Adopt-a-Book ProgramThe Goodrich Memorial Library’s Adopt-a-Book Program provides a unique opportunity to combine a love of books and learning with a goal to support the Library’s book collection, at the same time honoring, celebrating or memorializing special people in your life. A contribution to the Adopt-a-Book Program allows the Goodrich Memorial Library to purchase one or more books to help in the Library’s continuing quest to develop an outstanding library collection that meets the recreational, education, and life-long learning needs of our community. You may also adopt a book the Library already owns just because it is one of your favorites. The Library encourages a parent and/or a grandparent to adopt a children’s book for a child or grandchild. An attractive bookplate is placed inside the front cover of each adopted book noting the person(s) honored. If desired, information about the donor may be included. The Goodrich Memorial Library sends acknowledgement letters, including book title(s), to the person who has made the contribution and the person being named. The Library also provides options for a donor who may wish to remain anonymous. Adopt-a-Book is the perfect commemorative gift for:
Adopt-a-Book is an appropriate memorial gift to honor the memory of a special person(s) or loved one and is a wonderful option for a legacy gift. Each donation is selected by the Library or recommended by the donor. A gift of $25 purchases one fiction title. A $30 gift purchases a non-fiction title. ‘Title’ means a book the Library already owns or a recently published item on a subject that supports the current collection development needs of the Library. ‘Title’ may also mean a classic book that the Library does not own or where a copy needs replacement. A donation of $250 or higher provides the donor with the opportunity to work with the Library Director to select a subject area for acquisition. Gifts of $5,000 or more can support a book fund endowment for a specific area of interest on a continuing basis. It is anticipated a $5,000 book endowment will provide the Library with $250 per year in income. Books acquired with these funds will be identified with custom-designed bookplates. All Adopt-a-Book donations are tax deductible. If you are interested in participating in the Adopt-a-Book Program of the Goodrich Memorial Library, please contact the library by telephone at 334-7902 or via email. |
